Know you'll quantitate only human DNA,

The AluQuant™ Human DNA Quantitation System uses human specific probes to highly repeated sequences in chromosomal DNA to measure the amount of human DNA present in your sample. Figure 1 summarizes the results of experiments showing the specificity of the AluQuant™ System. Only human DNA is detected from a panel of various species samples*, Contaminants commonly found in forensic samples, such as E. coli and yeast, do not interfere with the detection of human DNA.

AluQuant is human specific but may also give results with DNA from higher primates.

Unlike blot-based methods, the AluQuant™ System gives you objetive numeric results. AluQuant™ uses a solution-based hybridization format that is extremely effective in measuring human DNA. Results obtained using AluQuant™ are precise and unambiguous, which means you eliminate the guesswork associated with estimating DNA concentration. Figure 2 illustrates output generated using the AluQuant™ Calculator.

AluQuant™ uses a luciferase reaction to produce light. The amount of light produced by the reaction corresponds to the amount of human DNA present in your sample. Resulting output is read by a luminometer. You don't have to run messy gel electrophoresis, perform blotting steps or PCR reactions.

Get consistent results.

The broad quantitation range of the AluQuant™ System provides you with consistent results from 0.1 ng to 20 ng. Figure 3 shows the System's results with a broad input range of human DNA samples.

The AluQuant™ Human DNA Quantitation System can be used as a manual or automated system.

The manual protocol requires less than two hours of handson time and one hour of incubation time. When the AluQuant™ System is automated, throughput can increase to 80 samples in two hours.

You choose the luminometer.

AluQuant™ is compatible with luminometers from several high quality manufacturers. The system has been optimized for use on two Turner Designs luminometers - the TD - 20/20 Luminometer and the Reporter™ Microplate Luminometer.

AluQuant™ can be automated using the Beckman-Coulter Biomek® 2000 Liquid Handling System. Using this type of automation allows you to quantitate 80 samples in two hours with only 15 minutes of hands-on time.
